Planes over my house: a 24-hour log of every aircraft over your pin

You hear them every day. Sky Hub Cloud tells you how many there really are. SKY RADAR LOG records every aircraft that flies into the circle around your pin, day and night, even when your screen is off. How many, at what time, how low, from which direction, and which ones were police, air ambulance or military.

SKY RADAR LOG: aircraft today, busiest hour, closest and lowest pass, aircraft per hour, direction rose and map of every aircraft in the last 24 hours
SKY RADAR LOG on a test pin near Leicester: 99 aircraft in one afternoon, the busiest hour at 13:00.

How many planes fly over my house?

The four cards at the top answer it straight away: aircraft today, the busiest hour, the closest pass and the lowest one. On our test pin near Leicester, 99 different aircraft made 113 passes in an afternoon, and the busiest hour was 13:00 with 48 aircraft.

One aircraft can pass more than once. The log counts it again only after 10 minutes, so a plane circling overhead is not counted twenty times.

What time are the most planes overhead?

The bar chart shows every hour of today. After a full week of recording, the page also shows the usual number for the same weekday, so you can see if today is busier than normal.

Where do they come from?

Direction rose: share of aircraft passes by the direction they arrived from, last 24 hours
Almost half of the passes came from the south-east on this day.

The rose shows from which side the aircraft entered your circle in the last 24 hours. On the test pin, almost half came from the south-east. Airports change direction with the wind, so a busy side today can be quiet tomorrow.

How low do the planes fly over my house?

Every aircraft in the last 24 hours as a dot around the pin, coloured by height: below 1,500 m, 1,500 to 6,000 m, above 6,000 m
Red below 1,500 m, amber 1,500 to 6,000 m, green above 6,000 m.

Every aircraft of the last 24 hours is one dot, placed where we logged it and coloured by its height: red below 1,500 m, amber from 1,500 to 6,000 m, green above 6,000 m. A line of red dots usually means an approach path to a nearby airport.

Every pass, with its time, route and height

SKY RADAR LOG list of passes: time, flight, route, aircraft type, category, distance and altitude
Aircraft seen more than once today, the ones worth a look, and every pass with its time, route, type, distance and height.

The list shows each pass: the time, the flight number, the route when we know it, the aircraft type, its category, and the distance and height when it was logged. “Seen more than once today” shows the aircraft that came back, for example a helicopter on a training circuit or an airliner on its second rotation.

Police helicopter, air ambulance or military?

“Worth a look today” picks out the aircraft most people ask about: military, police, air ambulance, coastguard and other helicopters. When you hear a helicopter circling at night, you can look up later which one it was and how low it flew.

Not everything is visible. We show only aircraft that send their position by ADS-B or MLAT to our data sources. Some military and police flights do not, and those never appear in any public tracker, ours included.

By category and by day

Passes by category for the last 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days and all time
Passes by category: 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days and everything recorded.
History by day: number of passes per day, with a button to clear one day or all history
History by day. Clear one day or all of it yourself.

The category table counts passengers, cargo, private aircraft, helicopters, ambulance, police, coastguard and military for the last 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days and everything recorded. History by day lists each day with its number of passes. You can clear one day or all history yourself.

Download it as a spreadsheet (CSV)

One button downloads every pass as a CSV file: time in UTC, aircraft code, flight number, category, distance, route, type, height and speed. It opens in Excel or Google Sheets.

Noise complaints: find the exact flights

Sky Hub Cloud is not an official noise record. Complaints about a specific aircraft go to the airport, usually through its WebTrak page, and complaints about low military flying go to the Ministry of Defence. Airports ask for the date and time. Your log and its CSV show you exactly which flights passed and how low, so you can report the right ones.

Every week by email

SKY RADAR LOG weekly email confirmation: the day it comes, what is inside and the date of the first report
Switch it on and the confirmation tells you the day your weekly report comes.

Switch on the weekly email on your SKY RADAR LOG page. Once a week, on the day you switched it on, you get the last 7 full days: aircraft this week, the busiest hour, day by day, what they were, the closest and lowest pass, and the CSV attached. One click in the email turns it off.

It records even when your screen is off

SKY RADAR LOG runs on our server, not in your browser. It keeps recording all day and night inside the radius you set on Fly Radar. Close the page, turn off the computer: tomorrow morning the night is in the log.

Frequently asked questions

How many planes fly over my house a day?

It depends on where you live. SKY RADAR LOG counts every aircraft that enters the circle around your pin, so you get your own number for every day, not an average for the whole town.

Why is a helicopter circling over my house?

At night it is usually a police or air ambulance helicopter on a job. SKY RADAR LOG marks police, air ambulance and military aircraft, so you can see which one it was, when and how low, as long as it sends its position.

Can I see planes over my house when I am not looking at the screen?

Yes. The log runs on our server all day and night, in the radius you set on Fly Radar. Close the page and the recording goes on.

Can I use the log for a noise complaint?

It is not an official noise record. It shows you the exact time, flight number and height of each pass, which is what the airport’s WebTrak or the Ministry of Defence asks for.

Why is a plane I heard missing from the log?

Some aircraft do not send their position, including some military and police flights. We only show aircraft that our ADS-B and MLAT sources receive.
